{"id":37,"date":"2017-12-17T23:14:01","date_gmt":"2017-12-17T23:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mjguide.com\/blog\/uncategorized\/ks-bill-to-seeks-defense-of-medical-marijuana\/"},"modified":"2017-12-17T23:14:01","modified_gmt":"2017-12-17T23:14:01","slug":"ks-bill-to-seeks-defense-of-medical-marijuana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mjguide.com\/blog\/medical-marijuana\/ks-bill-to-seeks-defense-of-medical-marijuana\/","title":{"rendered":"KS-Bill to seeks Defense of Medical Marijuana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: skamikaze<\/p>\n<p><strong>BILL SEEKS MEDICAL DEFENSE OF MARIJUANA  <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>  by James Carlson, The Capital-Journal,  <br \/>  28 Jan 2008 <br \/> Topeka Capital-Journal   A bill introduced in a Senate committee Monday would allow judges to  consider a medical condition as defense of marijuana possession.   <\/p>\n<p> Under the proposal, those with a debilitating illness arrested for  the drug&#8217;s possession could present in court a doctor&#8217;s written  certification that marijuana would offer therapeutic benefits.   <\/p>\n<p> &quot;This is simply an issue of compassion,&quot; said Laura Green, director  of the Kansas Compassionate Care Coalition that helped draft the measure.   <\/p>\n<p> The bill would not legalize or decriminalize possessing the drug.   <\/p>\n<p> The mere introduction of the bill, usually a formality, was decried  by one Topeka legislator.   <\/p>\n<p> Sen.  Vicki Schmidt, R-Topeka, opposed the bill&#8217;s entry on the  calendar, saying, &quot;It costs a lot of money to introduce a bill.&quot;  <\/p>\n<p> Schmidt, a pharmacist, said it&#8217;s difficult to ensure the same amount  of marijuana is distributed to each patient.
